Come join Synnott Mountain Guides for a rock climbing adventure in Acadia National Park. Otter Cliffs and Great Head, on Mt. Desert Island, offer the only sea cliff climbing on the eastern seabord. Rock climbing is usually exciting enough, but doing it over the crashing surf of the Atlantic Ocean is an experience like none other.

For those interested in multipitch crack climbing, there is a wonderful cliff just in from the shore called The Precipice (or South Wall). Think of the Precipice kind of like a mini Cathedral Ledge -- but with ocean views. It's got everything from one to three pitches, from 5.5 to 5.12. And you won't believe the rock quality - the pink granite is some of the best stone on this planet.

Of course, the Acadia/Downeast region of Maine is great for families with an unlimited supply of activities like biking on the carriage paths, going to the beach, boating, shopping, etc. There is also plenty of kid friendly climbing, including a couple of the only via ferrata trails in the east (see photos below of Will and Matt Synnott on the Beehive, a beautiful hike/climb above the popular Sand Beach in Acadia National Park).

Synnott Mountain Guides can help with all of your arrangements including transportation, lodging, meals etc, so please fill out our contact form for more information, or call us at 603-383-6976 (office) or 603-986-9607 (Mark's cell).
